About the Concentration

Step into the future of care

Preparing advanced practice nurses to deliver individualized, upstream care grounded in science and compassion.

Patients are increasingly seeking clinicians who can move beyond symptom management to provide individualized, upstream care grounded in science and compassion.

Yale School of Nursing is launching a new MSN concentration in Integrative Health & Precision Wellness, preparing advanced practice nurses for an emerging clinical frontier where conventional medicine, integrative health, and precision wellness converge.

Students will gain fluency in functional and precision wellness tools, including functional laboratory interpretation, nutrigenomics, lifestyle medicine, and wearable technology, and learn to integrate this data into individualized, prevention-focused care plans that address root causes of illness and support long-term health optimization.

Every patient embodies a complex story. Integrative health and precision wellness help clinicians read the full range of signals — biological, behavioral, environmental, and social — to deliver care that is more personal, responsive, and whole.

The concentration is a three-course sequence taken during the second specialty year. Two didactic courses build the foundation and applied skills, and a clinical practicum delivers 67.5 hours in an integrative health setting.

Course I · NURS 7205

Integrative and Holistic Health for the Advanced Practice Nurse

FoundationsDidactic

Builds a strong foundation in integrative and holistic health frameworks, the science of whole-person care, and evidence-informed approaches that bridge conventional medicine with complementary and integrative practices.

Course II · NURS 7206

Applying Integrative and Holistic Health to Clinical Practice

AppliedDidactic

Develops fluency in precision wellness tools, including functional laboratory interpretation, nutrigenomics, lifestyle medicine, and wearable technology, and applies these tools to individualized, prevention-focused care planning.

Course III · NURS 7216

Clinical Practice in Integrative/Holistic Health

Clinical67.5 hours

Translates classroom learning into supervised practice with 67.5 clinical hours in an integrative health setting, applying integrative and precision wellness approaches with real patients.
